Helen Stai STOUGHTON — Helen L. Stai, 82, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at her residence. She was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Edgerton, a daughter of the late Theodore and Melia (Peterson) Thorson. She married Clifford R. Stai of Stoughton on Dec. 13, 1941. They have resided in the Town of Dunkirk these many years, where they farmed. Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church and a former member of the Wheeler Prairie Mother’s Club. She and Clifford were longtime members of the Weekenders Club and enjoyed traveling to many parts of the country. She enjoyed working in the tobacco fields, loved tending her garden, canning her produce and tending her flowers. She was also gifted at making jewelry and refinishing antique furniture. Helen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clifford; a son, John (Pam Josheff) of Kihei Hi, Hawaii; daughter, Carol (Larry Shelley) Stai, of Edgerton; 4 grandchildren: Eric (Anne) Fosdal of Stoughton, Kathy Fosdal of Lake Forest, IL, Matthew (Heyele) Stai of Madison and Amy (Scott) Anderson of Stoughton; 3 great-grandchildren: Derick Fosdal, Dane and Megan Anderson; a brother, Marvin Thorson of Stoughton; 40 nieces and nephews; 3 sisters-in-law: Cora Swanson, Ruby Hanson, and Lenore Stai; and a brother-in-law, Bob Green. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Stai on Sept. 14, 1989; 2 brothers, Elmer and Roman Thorson; and 2 sisters, Thea Olson and Inger Canfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at First Lutheran Church , 310 Washington St,, Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Prairie Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, from 4 until 7 p.m.
