Michael HoplandMILTON — Michael A. Hopland, 38, of Milton, WI, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, in Albion Township. He was born in Janesville on Feb. 19, 1969. Mike graduated from Milton High School in 1987 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1988. He was Honorably discharged in 1992. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Wisconsin during the Gulf War. He also received numerous awards, campaign ribbons, and medals serving a Country that he was very proud of. Mike worked throughout the United States in the construction industry most of his life, until he was injured in a construction accident in 2003 that left him unable to work. Mike was a very happy person and a friend to everybody. He always enjoyed seeing people laugh and having fun. In his leisure time he enjoyed attending auctions, fishing and boating. In his younger years, he was active with the Boy Scouts, achieving the Life Badge Award. He is survived by 2 children, Jeffrey and Kelsie; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and James Love of Winter Haven, FL; his father and stepmother, Lyle and Mary Hopland of Johnson City, TN; brother, Shawn Hopland of Summerville, SC; paternal grandmother, June Roush of Elizabethton, TN; a very close and special friend, Jackie Studebaker of Milton; several stepbrothers and sisters; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Hopland in 1994; maternal grandparents; and his paternal grandfather. Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, MILTON, with Rev. Herbert Saunders officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
