'Notable' residents will serve meals at fund-raiser

Janesville's "distinguished notables" will be serving food during the second annual A Culinary Delight on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Janesville Country Club, 2615 W. Memorial Drive.

ECHO and Blackhawk Technical College's culinary program are teaming up in this event that will raise money to help ECHO clients and BTC's Culinary Students Scholarship Fund.

The gourmet dinner, featuring fresh lobster and filet mignon, will be prepared by the culinary students under the auspices of BTC culinary instructors Joe Wollinger, Mark Olsen and Katie Thomas.

The fund-raiser begins at 5 p.m. with appetizers, a cash bar and a silent auction. Dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m. The menu includes Meslin greens with roasted garlic and fig dressing, a choice of lobster or a filet that will be served with wild mushroom and au gratin potatoes plus baby carrots and broccoli with summer squash. Cherry, key lime and tangerine tarts will be served for dessert.

Serving dinner will be: Dave Arndt, Arndt Farms; Dave and Milly Babcock, Babcock Signs; John Beckord, Forward Janesville; Tom Brien, former Janesville City Councilman; Tim Cullen, Janesville School Board and ECHO board; Steve Ekblad, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church; Dawn Enerson, Johnson Bank; Tom Evert, superintendent of the Janesville Public Schools; Gail Graham, president of United Way of North Rock County; Rich Gruber, Mercy Health System; Jeni Hallatt, Mercy Health System; Ann Johnson, APJ Designs; Judi Kneece, JATV station manager; Eric Larson, president of Blackhawk Technical College; Tom Lasse, Badger Property Investments; Rob Lisser, vice president and chief financial officer at Bliss Communications.
