Brilliant colored sarapes, sombreros, masks, and panchos adorn the walls and ceilings in Hernandez El Sarape and create an authentic atmosphere for the excellent dishes served by the hospitable staff. It'll be a real challenge to choose from the 60-plus entrees on the menu, which includes traditional Mexican fare such as enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and chimichangas as well as other exotic dishes.
This "take you back to Mexico" restaurant also serves American style chicken, shrimp, and hamburgers. The guacamole and flour nachos appetizer and tamale and steak combination are delicious. Look for the homemade salsa and chips in addition to made-from-scratch Mexican bread and cookies. Beverages include seven flavors of Jarritos y Barrilitos and American as well as Mexican varieties of beer. Dessert includes flan, a favorite Mexican treat.
