SHARON-Global Renewable, the company that wants to build an ethanol plant on land just outside Sharon, will hold an "Ethanol 101" information meeting Thursday night.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 125 Plain St. The Sharon Main Street Association invited the company.

The public is invited to attend and ask questions about ethanol or the plant, said Les Ciciora, company director of operations.

"It's anything and everything you wanted to know about ethanol but were afraid to ask," he said.

Planning for the plant is under way. The village has yet to approve the project or annex the property along Highway 67 west of the village.

Global Renewable Director Jeff Knight said more details will be discussed at future public hearings with the village board.

"We're still coming back two more times or more to present quite a bit more on preliminary site design," he said.

Global Renewable plans to break ground July 1 pending approvals from the village board and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The plant would produce 105 million gallons of ethanol annually, use 38 million bushels of corn and create 55 full-time jobs, company officials say.

The company is developing two Web sites to share information about the project: www.globalrenewable.com and www.sharonethanol.com. The latter site is under construction.
