ALBANY-An Albany man died Saturday after falling from a tree in the 300 block of West Nichols Street, according to Albany police.
Scott D. Matson, 28, of 408 S. Mechanic St., was cutting a tree down when a limb fell on a power line, Police Chief Robert Levitt said. Matson climbed in the tree to cut the limb away, but the limb he was sitting on gave way, and Matson fell to the ground, he said.
The responding officer arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. to find Matson in the middle of the street with serious injuries. Tree limbs also were in the street.
Albany EMS was on another emergency call, so Brodhead EMS was requested. Albany fire personnel attempted CPR and Medflight was called, but Matson died at the scene, according a press release from Albany police.
Matson was a 1997 graduate of Edgerton High School.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgerton, with burial in the Fassett Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ehlert Funeral Home, Edgerton, and one hour before the service Thursday at the church.
