LAKE GENEVA-Residents, municipal officials and employees interested in learning more about the impacts of three Wisconsin appellate court decisions on governmental bodies and corporations can attend a free seminar Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The Elkhorn law firm of Godfrey, Leibsle, Blackbourn & Howarth will present the seminar from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Palmer Room of the Geneva National Golf Club Clubhouse, 1221 S. Geneva National Ave.
In 2007, Wisconsin appellate courts rendered three decisions affecting the application of the Open Meetings Law to all Wisconsin governmental bodies and governmental corporations as well as many quasi-governmental corporations. The purpose of the seminar is to bring the issues to the attention of municipal officers and employees and to discuss their implications.
The seminar will include information about what to consider for public notices, a seven-factor test to determine if you are subject to the Open Meetings Law and a list of the limited occasions when a closed session is permitted.
To reserve a spot by Friday, Oct. 26, call Glenda at (262) 741-1519 or fax to (262) 723-7538.
