A Wisconsin & Southern Railroad train with 100 cars blocked traffic on County J at Delavan Drive for a couple hours this morning.

A knuckle-steel hardware shaped like a fist of joined hands-connecting the cars broke because of the cold weather and stopped the train immediately over County J, said Ken Lucht, community development manager for the railroad.

The road was blocked for about 45 minutes, Lucht said. Nobody was hurt. No cars derailed, he added.

The Rock County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene to make sure traffic flowed smoothly.

The train is off County J now and into the Janesville yard of the railroad line, Lucht said.
