MILWAUKEE - The finals of the U.S. Bowling Congress Masters tournament will be held at Miller Park in October. Unless, of course, the building is occupied for some other reason.
Like for a World Series game.
The Milwaukee Brewers and the USBC announced on Thursday that the tournament finals would be held Oct. 28 on lanes constructed along the infield dirt from short right field to second base. But if the Brewers end up playing in the World Series, the finals would be moved to the AMF Bowlero Lanes in Wauwatosa, Wis.
The Masters finals also were held at Miller Park in October 2004.
"People still talk about the Masters finals at Miller Park," USBC chief executive Roger Dalkin said. "We're fortunate once again to have this opportunity to partner with the Milwaukee Brewers and PBA to conduct one of bowling's major championships in a Major League facility."
In 2004, more than 4,300 spectators watched 11-time PBA Tour champion Danny Wiseman of Baltimore defeat Patrick Allen 268-183 to win the $100,000 first prize.
"It was awesome," Wiseman said. "Just absolutely incredible. We're in a Major League Baseball facility and we're bowling."
